Programme Intent
The programme aims to support learners to become Chartered Managers. To acquire and develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours to take responsibility for people, projects, operations and/or services. To deliver long-term organisational success, with the professional recognition of their ability to deliver impact, behave ethically and demonstrate their commitment to continual learning and development.
Implementation
The Chartered Manager degree apprenticeship will provide learners with high-quality management and leadership training to prepare them for their future careers. This is a work-based learning programme with a critical emphasis on employability and professional development. A workshop-based learning journey supports learners to contextualise understanding learning applied directly into the workplace.
Impact
Chartered Managers have the knowledge, skills and behaviours to enhance their professional practice and contribute to their organisation’s objectives.

Preparing for EPA
Employer Mentors are trained to guide their learners through the preparation for End Point Assessment. A dedicated online training session takes place near the learner’s end of the Training Period which sets out the final stages of the programme for the learner and Mentor, hosted by the Programme Director and Employer Liaison Tutors.
It is the role of the Mentor to officially sign the apprentice off as “occupationally competent” as a Chartered Manager at the Gateway meeting, and the Mentor is supported by the ELT with all the information to make this decision. A comprehensive Gateway to EPA Checklist underpins this activity. Our Executive Education team will make all the necessary EPA arrangements in conjunction with the learner and the CMI, the End Point Assessment Organisation.
On Chartered Manager, the important milestone of the Gateway meeting is followed by a period where the learner is at arm’s length of the University, so the role of the Mentor is all the more important. The PRMs cease for this period but are replaced with light touch “check-ins” on the Mentor and learner to provide support and address any issues. Mentors are encouraged to actively engage with their learner’s preparation for EPA by encouraging them to practice their presentation and rehearse the professional discussion.
