Programme Intent
The intent of the programme is to provide a high-quality education in engineering. As a department, we aim to provide an education for the individual which enhances his/her prospects of professional employment in engineering and business both in national and international industries. All our degrees are accredited by the Institute of Engineering and Technology. Our programmes are aimed to provide studies which enable the apprentice to attain a high level of expertise in a range of topics specific to Electrical Engineering.
Implementation
Our Engineering programmes are purposefully designed to enable all apprentices to engage meaningfully with the curriculum by being accessible and representative. We will support apprentices to shape their learning experience. The curriculum explicitly includes multiple and representative perspectives, valuing collective identities and individual diversity. Learning, teaching and assessment activities help apprentices to understand how they can enhance outcomes both for themselves and for others.
Impact

Preparing for EPA
A series of EPA workshops are scheduled throughout the course to fully prepare the apprentices on what to expect and what to prepare for their EPA.
It is the role of the Mentor to officially sign the apprentice off as “occupationally competent” as an Engineer at the Gateway meeting, and the mentor is supported by the Tutor with all the information to make this decision. A comprehensive Gateway to EPA checklist underpins this activity. Our Head ELT will make all the necessary EPA arrangements in conjunction with the learner and the End Point Assessment Organisation.
